Tahir Farooq, MD, FACP, FIDSA

Tahir Farooq, MD, has over 25 years of medical experience with a specialty in infectious disease care. Dr. Farooq has a special interest in caring for patients with healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), diabetic foot infections, HIV, hepatitis B (HBV), and hepatitis C (HCV). He has an affinity to the field of infectious disease as he finds it rewarding to see the rapid improvement in the health of his patients after the proper diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Farooq finds a true sense of satisfaction from helping his patients improve their quality of life.

Dr. Farooq’s contributions in the field of infectious disease have earned him roles of Chief of Infectious Disease at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton, Member of the Medical Executive Committee at St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton, and prior head of Infection Control at St. Lawrence Rehabilitation Center. His many years of proven hands-on care have earned him affiliations at New Jersey’s leading acute care hospitals, nursing homes, and rehabilitation facilities in Mercer County and other communities throughout the state.

Dr. Farooq’s childhood dream was to become a physician and specialize in infectious disease as he saw firsthand the inadequate healthcare services available to his community and wanted to help people alleviate their suffering. This goal has followed him his entire medical career as he starts every day as a new day to contribute to making someone’s life better in any way he can. He also offers his expertise abroad by volunteering his time to community service work. Outside of work, Dr. Farooq likes spending free time with his family watching soccer and playing table tennis with his children.
