Why I’m an infectious disease provider
“I entered the field of infectious disease by happenstance or luck. I was recruited by the ID Care physicians I worked with when I was a critical care nurse. I have found the infectious disease field to be one in which there is always more to learn and no two cases are the same. I enjoy the breadth of the field and the unique puzzles (illnesses) to be solved.”
Approach to infectious disease care
Cindy Schiller believes that listening to what a patient says, as well as paying attention to what isn’t spoken, is critical to understanding the patient’s needs and illness.
More about Cindy Schiller, infectious disease provider
Cindy enjoys the daily challenges she encounters in her role, particularly connecting with patients during often very difficult times in their lives. Crafting a care plan that takes into account each individual’s unique needs to improve their health is one of her favorite aspects of being an advanced practice nurse (APN). She holds wound care (WCC) and diabetic wound care (DWC) certifications through the National Alliance of Wound Care. Cindy is also certified in infection control (CIC) and trained in hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
She is proud to provide top-notch, patient-centered, evidence-based care with compassion and humanity, striving to treat patients as she would want herself or her family to be treated. Patients frequently comment on her calm demeanor and ability to make them feel at ease, which she considers one of her greatest strengths.
Cindy is proud to work among a healthcare team committed to providing compassionate care and is heavily involved in mentoring the practice’s new advanced practice nurses while educating both nurses and patients alike. Prior to joining ID Care, she worked as a critical care nurse for several years. Her personal interests include traveling, crafting, theatre, and spending time with family and friends.
