Why I’m an infectious disease specialist
“My mother always encouraged me to be a strong independent physician. Since I grew up in India with different infectious disease including multi-resistant TB, malaria, dengue, etc., I always had special inclination towards infectious disease, which became stronger during my electives in residency.”
Approach to infectious disease care
Inspired by her mother to become a physician, Dr. Ubhi emphasizes effective communication with patients and team members as central to quality care. She believes listening to patients’ concerns, providing clear explanations and demonstrating compassion are essential. Taking a few minutes to sit and listen patiently is a vital part of her approach to patient care and management.
