Why I’m an infectious disease specialist
“I enjoy using my brain to sort through the challenges that this area of medicine presents. There is a unique intersection of science and medicine with human psychosocial situations that often all need to be taken into account to care for infection issues.”

Dr. Danya Wenzler’s approach to care is grounded in competence, kindness, compassion, listening skills and not being driven by money but rather good patient care.
More about Danya Wenzler, infectious disease doctor
Dr. Danya Wenzler was inspired to become a physician primarily to help others while pursuing her interest in science. She is particularly proud of her ability to listen and care, taking the time to educate patients and their families about infection-related issues in a way that fosters insight and awareness of their health. One of her most significant accomplishments was helping a patient transform her life from an AIDS diagnosis to living healthily with HIV, ultimately having a healthy baby with a new husband by her side.
Dr. Wenzler balances her full-time career with providing care to Zufall Health Center HIV patients and being an involved mother to her three children. She also cares for three dogs and one cat and enjoys spending quality time with her family and listening to country music.
