Why I’m an infectious disease provider

“I most enjoy treating the infectious diseases that commonly affect the elderly, like UTIs, soft tissue and respiratory infections. I also strongly support the importance of immunizations.”

Approach to infectious disease care

Liza Marmo’s approach to patient care is centered on a collaborative multidisciplinary strategy, ensuring that all team members are engaged in providing the best possible care. She believes that the patient experience is greatly enhanced when patients feel genuinely cared for, which she achieves by listening, smiling and following through on her word. Liza emphasizes the importance of good follow-up and strong patient education to improve outcomes. She also focuses on continuing education for herself to stay current on new developments in infectious disease treatments and provide the highest quality care.

More about Liza Marmo, infectious disease nurse practitioner

Liza Marmo, certified in infection control, has special practice interests in urinary tract infections, cellulitis, upper respiratory infections and pneumonia. She is a dedicated healthcare professional who takes pride in the trusting relationships she develops with her patients. Her deep interest in geriatrics is rooted in the loving relationship she shared with her grandmother. Before focusing on infectious disease care, Liza spent over a decade working in critical care and trauma, followed by roles in nursing leadership. Despite her success, she missed direct patient contact and returned to patient care as a nurse practitioner.

Liza is known for her exceptional ability to listen, advocate for her patients, and navigate difficult conversations with patients and their family with compassion. Patients value her kindness, attentiveness to their concerns and the genuine care she brings to each interaction. The oldest of six children raised in Jackson, NJ, Liza enjoys walking and gardening in her free time, as well as spending time with friends and family – especially her grandchildren. She loves traveling to warm destinations, especially to a beach.
