Dr. Ronald G. Nahass, President of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) and clinical professor of medicine, recently addressed the society’s response to public claims regarding pediatric COVID-19 vaccination deaths in an interview with Infectious Disease Special Edition.

Dr. Nahass reaffirmed IDSA’s commitment to evidence-based medicine, emphasizing that claims of “hidden” vaccine-related pediatric deaths are not supported by transparent, peer-reviewed data and should not be interpreted without rigorous scientific validation. He highlighted the importance of accurate vaccine safety monitoring and clear communication to maintain public trust in current immunization practices.

“As infectious disease professionals, we must ground our guidance in thorough scientific evaluation and established evidence,” Dr. Nahass said. “Mischaracterizations of safety data can undermine confidence in lifesaving vaccines and public health efforts.”

A clinical professor of medicine at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Dr. Nahass continues to advocate for collaboration, education, and the application of rigorous science in infectious disease policy and practice.
