Dr. Markou says his greatest strength in interacting with patients is his ability to connect with them, as he grew up in the area where he currently works. His patients most value how he can simplify their complex diagnosis in layman’s terms, allowing them to understand their illness better.

In his personal life Dr. Markou exercises almost daily. He believes that trying to live a healthy lifestyle is a person’s best protection against chronic illness and infectious disease. He distills his own alcohol and wine and is an avid poker player.
