Why I’m an infectious disease specialist
“I pursued my passion to become a physician after participating in a polio eradication program during an internship in my native India. I was fascinated by the societal impact of vaccinations and the ability to solve a complex medical challenge.”
Approach to infectious disease care
Dr. Mathai’s approach to treatment is motivated by each patient she sees, gathering all the relevant clues to solve their unique health mystery and the infection impacting them. She takes satisfaction in seeing her patients’ clinical responses when she effectively diagnoses and treats them.
